America Movil is Latin America’s largest cell phones operator and has more than 180 Milion subscribers. Latin America is a growth area for cell phones. AMX managed to grow its earnings even in 2009.
I wish I had bought AMX last year: its value doubled in 12 months.
I think AMX is a great stock. Maybe a bit expensive now with P/E=14 compared to China Mobile which is around 11.
AMX unfortunately yields very low dividends, around 0,9%. Still AMX looks like a good opportunity.
I have hopes that Skype and mobile Internet some day will save us from having to spend our money on minutes of conversations that should be free. Until that time companies like America Movil will prosper.
I am considering it for my March stock buy.
